Review on πŸ”ͺ Naniwa Super Whetstone Knife Sharpening Stone by Chris Munns

Revainrating 4 out of 5

good stone Creates small clay-like chips.

Beautiful stone. Produces small clay-like shavings that help prevent excessive burring (good). You'll need to rub it down a bit, so make sure you have a cleaning block or brush handy. If you are a beginner like me I would not use this for practice as it is difficult to form a raised ridge for educational purposes. A good stone, but choose something else for now until you feel better. The reason I had to give it a 4 instead of a 5 is because of the board. Muta. Illusion. Blackboard. They did a great job of gluing the stone to the board. Okay, I thought it must be cute. The problem with these is that they've gotten very cheap due to the little "non-slip" foot/pad underneath. If you apply too much pressure, which isn't much, the board will slip. You have to find a way to hold it (I was able to glue it to the table) otherwise you have to apply light pressure which takes over an hour to form a slight burr. I really wish they had a separate rubber grip that comes off like everyone else. Mine was green too, but the box says s400 (can't take the Japanese at their word). I think it's the same product
