Review on ๐Ÿ”— Efficient Chain Checker: Park Tool Ensures Optimal Performance by Loud Forrest

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Nice addition to my tool arsenal

Works as expected, if a bit more expensive. However, I'm a bit of an instrument freak - well, a big instrument junkie and I had to have it. My only issue is that the sensor reads slightly as if you are about to need a new circuit when in fact you are not. Don't get me wrong, you most likely will NOT doubt yourself when you find out, I just think it's the nature of the instrument. For example, if you read your chain with the number 0.65 when 0.50 is new and 0.75 means "time to replace", your interpretation might be to replace it when in fact it has plenty of life left. The instructions tell you the same thing. and that's good. Pay special attention to the warning not to push the controller too hard. Not only is this bad for the pin on the gauge (it will eventually become inaccurate if you keep measuring and pressing the dial too hard), it will also give you an incorrect reading. In terms of readability, it's really good - I only mentioned it because I feel like the average DIYer might interpret it a little differently. On the other hand, the average handyman probably wouldn't spend money on a tool. It really gives you readings that you can actually do something with and know your chain is in great shape, or warn you that it's too stretched. While not a "must have" tool I am happy with my purchase and like other Park Tool products albeit more expensive the tool is well built and does what it is supposed to do so I would recommend add it to your tools too if you need something like that.
