Review on ๐Ÿšช LiftMaster 850LM: The Ultimate Universal Gate and Garage Door Opener Receiver by Bryce Wohlman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The 850LM model DOES NOT ALLOW A SINGLE wireless keypad (877MAX) to control more than ONE door

Message from Tech Support: The 850LM only recognizes ONE wireless keypad PIN per physical Keyboard. Try programming a second or third for the other two channels and any previously successfully programmed PINs will be forgotten. In other words, the ONLY solution is to have multiple wireless keypads (even if the doors are next to each other) or multiple 850LMs, one for each door you want to open. If you have 3 doors, each with its own receiver (an existing compatible opener), a wireless keypad will support those multiple doors. This is what the reviewers mean by "multi-door support". Basically works. But don't think for a minute that you can use the 3 channel 850LM to control 3 separate doors and operate the doors via a wireless keypad. This is a design flaw that cannot be fixed, but they didn't anticipate this use case and it doesn't work. No word from tech support (of course) about fixing this issue. Also, it forces the customer to either buy more keyboards or buy more than the 850LM. replacing their old receivers, well it saved me from replacing the whole thing! So maybe I shouldn't complain. But it's because it only takes a few lines of code to make it work. Which is better for the planet: a few lines of code or more production.

Pros
  • Compact design fits most gate and commercial door operators
Cons
  • Corrupted
