. I use the main unit speaker outputs to power the subwoofer amp. This Kicker 46KISLOC2 is ideal for converting signals to RCA levels. The output is a very powerful 8 volts which perfectly controls the amp. I'm glad it has a 12v output lead to power my amp with DC bias from the speaker outputs. Make sure you ground the black wire to get 12 volts. It has a red LED that lights up when the 12 volt output is ready. The amp takes a few seconds to turn on which eliminated the very loud and annoying thump I had before installing it. The same annoying pop occurred when the stereo turned off, but that almost eliminated it as well. Now he has a very soft punch that I can handle. This is probably the best linear converter you can find for the money.
