Detects minor fuel leaks as well as all refrigerants used today

This instrument detects all types of refrigerants commonly used including those found in my 1966 car as well as a modern car. In addition, it detects small fuel leaks such as those that can easily occur on boats and general aircraft and are almost impossible to find. The unit comes with two C-type alkaline batteries and an AC adapter for use in the garage. The package includes a hard plastic carrying case, which is important due to the fragility of the sensor probe. An audible alarm and LED indicators make it clear where leaks are and while there is no quantitative display, in most cases you just want to know where the leak is. The light bars indicate whether the leak is significant or not. The probe cable is flexible and will hold any position you place it in, making it easy to route it to exactly where you want it in the engine bay. It's important to remember that when you turn it on, it automatically calibrates according to the environment. If you turn it on near a refrigerant leak, it will not indicate the presence of refrigerant. So turn it on in a room with fresh air, and then go to the testing ground. Also note that the sensor's lifespan is listed in the manual as around a year, and while this will likely depend on your level of hydrocarbon exposure, you should test the device with the test bottle that came with it, especially if you're using one. more than a year without sensor replacement. All in all a great addition to your home garage and workshop!
