Review on 12 inch Black Lodge Cast Iron Dual Handle Pan by Aaron Gonzalez

It's a beast! on pans

I bought this article without great expectations. This is far superior to any other cast iron I own and as a lodge I knew the finish wasn't going to be great. I recently used some old Griswolds and the high gloss finish on these old pans is amazing. I've had other houses and I knew that after some work and time the finish would improve and be more than functional, but it would never have the same glossy finish as the old ones. When the package arrived I was impressed by its weight. I started by sanding the inside with an orbital sander and coarse sandpaper. The ending was incredibly hard. However, without much effort, maybe 10 or 15 minutes, he improved significantly. I washed it with mild dish soap and water and seasoned it with fat. I applied 3-4 layers and let it sit overnight. I am very happy with the finished product. It's become my go-to pan for pretty much everything. The size isn't unmanageable, and it's actually pretty versatile. I can cook large meals or several things at once. I've used it as a baking sheet, skillet, and heating pad. I've used it on my glass oven, campfire, outdoor stove, and BBQ grill. I think I'll probably end up getting a cover for it, but other than that it works great.
