Bought these because they need to match my car's 'aerobars'. It's easy to tighten the pads, but it's very difficult - impossible - to tighten them enough that they don't move. When I pulled the Velcro straps far enough to tighten them, they overlapped so much that they really had no place to snag. So I dressed them looser than I would have liked. This caused them to move and roll as I lifted the boat onto the car. The soft side fell off and the boat just rested on the velcro. It took some adjustment to get it right and I was concerned that on a long ride the wind might push things enough to cause the shoe to roll. This will loosen the straps. Bad thing. Unfortunately I didn't try them until after the return window this year due to bad weather. So I stuck with them. I suppose I could tape something on the inside to make the fit tighter, but...if I wanted to assemble something myself I would just use pipe insulation and tape.
