Review on 7-Wire Pigtail Connector for Blower Motor Resistor by PartsSquare by Shawn Bass

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good replacement - heat

The only problem I had was that the connectors were too difficult to crimp. I used pliers and squeezed as hard as I could but the wires still slipped out on both ends. I had to go to the auto zone and buy candles of a suitable caliber of the same size. In hindsight I should have just used some orange wire nuts and closed the case. This part replaces the wiring harness on the manual air conditioning AC in my Avalanche. This is a 7 pin wire harness that comes with a 2 hole fan resistor. It might be a bear to change, but not as hard to come by as a pumped door drive motor. As an added bonus, fixing this wiring harness also eliminated that annoying short circuit/hum noise I would hear intermittently through the radio when I pressed the gas pedal. The only problem is that I've gotten so used to this noise that I could use it as an indicator to diagnose other problems in my car. A couple of times I've noticed that the hum changes tone and gets lower than usual as my car warms up. Considering the instrument cluster was out, that definitely helped. Unfortunately this bug/feature is no longer available as the wiring harness fixed my flammable melting OEM wiring harness which probably should have been recalled and done at the factory years ago when the problem was discovered. I'm not saying all this because the thing is bad. On the contrary, the suspension is good, probably better than the OEM, but the Chevy sucks.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No machine
