Review on Star Micronics TSP143IIU GRY US ECO - Gray Thermal Receipt Printer with Cutter, USB, Internal Power Supply, and Cable Included by Paul Dobson

Some programs, like Excel, are a bit complex

Like it so far I didn't know I could even print text documents and images (in low to medium quality in black and white, mind you) directly from regular programs on my computer without special testing software, of course after installing the driver. All you have to do is find out what page size and margins etc are available in the manual and on the web. Some programs like Excel are a bit complex. This allows you to print information easily and clearly without wasting a lot of paper. It's not finicky like many regular printers. I just unplug it from one place and plug it into another, wait a few seconds for me to hear the paper setting sound and the computer recognize it, and print. I'm using this with Square Register on a Samsung Galaxy Note (3?). Once it's set up, it plugs straight into the USB On The Go adapter, the app recognizes the printer, and I can print a receipt for my customers! Very professional looking and not just a text message or email url which many of our customers can't really use. It seems that this is a high price to pay for such a small, seemingly simple device, but so far it looks like a reliable and durable machine. A pack of check paper is enough for a long time. If something goes wrong it has a high resale value unlike some other devices (just check out eBay and Revain). Trust me, when you are buying a new business and you need a printer, you need a thermal receipt printer. . Do not use a traditional laser or inkjet printer unless your situation requires it. It's inconvenient, slow, and wastes more resources.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Hard to say
