I've been using them for years. Was used to purchase them from Dollar Tree. My experience with them has shown that they are very strong. I've had a few batches where something seemed wrong with them and the thread snapped or snapped slightly, but this may have been an exception as they were very strong overall. The toothpick part is useful for removing food debris from the toothbrush, as well as various other uses you can find for a toothpick. The angled design of this thread is the only design I like. It is not possible to readily use other standard filament designs.
