Disappointing quality

This review is written solely for the quality of the book and is NOT intended to reflect badly on the seller. This book is a reprint of an old brochure and was presented as such in the description, so I have no problem with that aspect. What was disappointing is that the playback lacks copy quality. The booklet is essentially a collection of crochet patterns presented as charts. Character recognition of the scanned image was missing on about 50% of the brochure pages, resulting in templates not printing completely or simply missing large parts. I don't know if all copies of this brochure are of the same quality, I assume they are, so it would be reasonable to expect all copies to be of the same poor quality. The scanning process works well for most written text, and these old book reprints are usually fine for written text. However, the scanning process does not work well for detailed images or small photos. Yes, you can figure out the missing parts of the patterns, but honestly, if I wanted to, I'd just draw the pattern myself. This booklet is still available and I found the original vintage copy here at Revain and ordered it to replace this booklet. If you want the original crochet patterns to work I would recommend looking for the original booklet as the quality of the pattern is much higher. Again, please understand that this is an honest review of the brochure and the scanning process used, this is not a negative review of the printer - and you should not be afraid to purchase these scanned reprints. Just be aware that there is some risk if the content of the books contains graphics or photographic images. I think the printers are to be commended for their efforts in bringing these old books to the public, but there are scan quality issues that technology just can't solve when you're working with old text and old images. Great book, excellent sirloin crochet patterns but disappointing that they are not fully printed.
