Turtle refuses to touch them but that may be his own preference so I can't say they're definitely good or bad. They appear to be made from a gel similar to that used to make cricket water crystals. As they dry (which happens after about 2 days in the shade) they shrink to a very small size, but they can be placed in water and they will disappear. almost normal again. The cubes are very small and bright orange, so it can be difficult for some animals to recognize them as food if they have eaten nothing but greens for years. I wanted to add some variety to my tortoise's diet, I've had her for about 12 years now and maybe she's just too stubborn (I've tried mixing her in small amounts with her normal vegetation and she just seemed to close around her eat) a very strong sweet melon/soapy chemical smell that I personally can't stand, but I'm not the type to eat them. Some animals may like it.
