I have an old surround sound system (Yamaha rx-v677) that passes 4K but doesn't support HDR. I used Blackbird to share my 4K HDR Roku TV and Yamaha. It worked, I had to try each output to see which would be considered the main output, and now I just select that input on the Yamaha, turn on my 4k HDR Blu-ray player and see the HDR detection display the TV screen. (unless simply using Yamaha as a loop-through doesn't show the detected HDR signal). I am using HDMI 4K cables from my Blu-ray player to TV out, but not HDMI 4K cable for Yamaha surround sound system. Surround recognizes a 7.1 surround sound signal and sounds much better than when a Blu-ray player is connected. directly to the TV and via 5.1 ARC (Audio Return Channel) back to the surround sound system. Now great sound and great picture.
