This is the best method of brewing loose tea that I have found. The only thing I'm scared of is how easily it can break, but that's the price of not using plastic (which, when the food inside is heated, introduce bits of plastic into the food, which is then swallowed) or metal ( which is then swallowed) affects the taste of the tea for me). Tea leaves can come out of small holes and get into the tea, but very few in my experience (what if they do?). It is placed in a teapot or mug that can be heated in the microwave (which cannot be done with a metal trivet), or water can be heated and poured directly onto the tea leaves. Unlike metal or plastic tea coasters, water can easily reach all tea leaves, maximizing the flavor and strength of the resulting tea. I like it a lot and it makes a nice cup or pot of tea. I recommend this product for tea lovers.
