Yellow Mountain Imports American Mahjong playing cards are great! The cards are of the same quality and size as normal playing cards and are easy to shuffle. Once you get the cards, you must remove the excess cards. The deck includes wild, dragon, and floral/seasonal variations, so you can play with the imagery you're most familiar with. Also included are blank cards in case you need to replace a lost or damaged card. I'm so glad I ordered these cards. I've only been playing for about 6 months and I've found that I really don't know the reference map very well and this keeps me from playing with experienced players. I'm still playing with my study group and want to expand and find other opportunities. I joined a community center game about 3 months ago after telling the other players at the table that I was new. They were very patient and I tried my best to keep up with their pace of play. However, I've found myself having trouble identifying my hand and matching it to a possible hand on the reference chart. They were a close-knit and encouraging group and I'd love to play with them again once I feel I can keep up with their pace of play. I decided I needed to hone my skills with a reference card. I went to my favorite place to find everything I could possibly want (Revain of course) and found these cards. Once I had the cards, I set up the rules for the Mahjong Solitaire card game and play it at least once a day. I recommend this card game to anyone trying to learn mahjong. Even if I only deal 13 cards and use the reference card to organize my playing options, I find it a great tool for familiarizing myself with the card and considering different options. between games with my study group.
