Review on Sunbeam Mini Static Control Collar by Jessica Day

I bought this collar for our new Basset Hound. I have never used a bark collar but my husband used one on his previous dog (a spaniel mix). I initially put the collar on a basset hound without batteries so he wouldn't associate the collar with pain. A week later I put the battery in and turned on the minimum setting with short plugs. This startled my basset hound, but he quickly recovered and continued to bark. We soon switched to medium and then high settings. After the battery died, we switched to long plugs; I think since it has so much loose skin it would be beneficial to use longer tines. We started again on the lowest settings and gradually worked our way up because the basset hound is stubborn and fat! The batteries seemed to run out very quickly but I imagine if a dog barks THAT much they will die. In the end I would give this product 4 stars. Easy to use, easy to change batteries. The company seems genuinely interested: asking you to get in touch with them before abandoning the product. I could have hoped for better results but I think it could be excellent with a less stubborn breed. Generally, the basset hound will bark LESS, but will still bark, and once he jumps up, runs, and barks, he's hard to stop.
