I knew it was plastic when I ordered it but since I was only planning to cut some sheets of plywood and rip off the 1 inch paneling I didn't think about it that plastic would have made a difference - I wasn't planning on heavy use. Next the insert flexes and shifts so that it rubs against the blade and rolls the gap of the cutout in the insert. It's also difficult to mount it on a table if you plan to use a riving knife, as the slot for the riving knife is a poor fit at best. What you want is to be able to put the stake down on the table, lift the blade and start cutting. Instead you have to fiddle with the riving knife and try to lift it by hand while trying to insert the insert into the table. Difficult to swing back and forth when fingers are inches from a very sharp blade. Of course it's plastic? What's wrong these days. But Bosch could use glass-reinforced plastic. And they could design the insert to match the design quality of the saw itself. Instead, it's just a poorly crafted afterthought that makes you wonder why they even bother.
