Review on 🚰 Rectorseal 83113 EZ-113 3/4" Trap by Andrew Walton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy and convenient adjustment of cleaning fixtures

I saw this while looking for traps to replace a clogged trap that was correctly set up but didn't have access to cleaning or maintenance. Consequently, I used a 5 gallon condensate bucket until I had everything I needed to replace it. Not that I would recommend it, but it worked in a pinch and it gave me a new estimate of how much moisture a humidifier or condenser or whatever is taking out of the air every 24 hours. It's been very humid in here the past few days, and I've emptied a bucket of three or four gallons of water once a day. In any case, this rectorseal trap was exactly what I needed as I had to install it between two lines. Of course, it can be adjusted until you glue it in place permanently, so it was very easy to install on both sides that were attached. Sure, I have some plumbing experience, but even if you don't have it, it's easy to install if you take your time, and the added bonus is that you have lots of different ways to clean. If you look at the photo you will see that I have added two rubber splined joints which can also be removed to allow the entire assembly to be removed for future cleaning. I found it best to do maintenance once a year and keep the lines clean to allow the condensate to drain. If you forget it will build up and eventually start to clog, causing condensation to build up again and you'll have a real mess. It seems to be working pretty well after a day or two with no leaks and good water flow out of the house. I definitely recommend this particular trap if you want to clean and save your condenser line.

Pros
  • Light weight thin wall trap
Cons
  • Good but not very good
