Review on πŸš— Enhance Vehicle Stability with Monroe 58645 Monroe Load Adjust Shock Absorber by Nate Eich

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Easy to install but you must have the right tools.

I'm towing a 2002 Honda Odyssey RV. I chose them because they are what the car had before or something similar, a shock absorber with an extra spring to load the rear of the car. I don't know how long the old shocks lasted, but the new shocks raised the rear of the car about 1.5 inches. I knew if the shocks were old or bad because when you hit a bump your back jerks up and down. Driving a 2002 Honda Odyssey in a pop-up RV isn't difficult at all, I'm told. One of the surprising effects of the new shock absorbers was the very low body roll for this heavy car. I assumed all vans would almost tip over at every turn, but this reduced body roll to something resembling a sedan. Very impressed with the added road control even at 80mph. I picked them because they were on the car before, or something like that. A shock absorber with an extra spring for extra weight in the back of the car is what I expect from the staff. I don't know how long the old shocks lasted, but the new shocks raised the rear of the car about 1.5 inches. The ride is not difficult at all. It is very smooth and easy to work with. I even had two people seated in the back and it never got on the floor. There's a slight rubbing noise in the shock when you reach its yield point, but that's to be expected, it breaks anyway. So far I've only driven 50 km. I'm taking the camper over this bank holiday weekend so we'll probably test it and if the quality changes I'll update this review. You need to hammer on the bottom jack. I have found that if done carefully, the threads will not be damaged since the bushing is encased in a urethane bushing that will flex. It took about an hour on both bikes.** Update. I'm updating my rating and downgrading it to two stars. After a few weeks, the sharks just jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump, jump. They seem fine at first after telling my pop-up van, which only has 100-150 pounds of drawbar weight, that the rear of the car sags and it just bounces around all day. The way they work makes me think they are rebuilt and not new because they break so easily. I'll spend the money on newer and better ones.
