I sharpened a pencil. It worked. However, the instructions were not clear. I understand why some reviewers claimed it didn't work. My mechanically minded son came to the rescue. The clip that attaches it to the table is a joke. Nobody here has dealt with this part yet. This makes a very good point. Very good. But since the front silver plate has to be pulled out a bit for the mechanism to fully grasp the stylus, short styluses will not work. The internal mechanism is made of metal. But everything else is the usual cheap stuff. I think it's a bit overpriced BUT if it lasts years I'll give more stars.
