The thing really works

Previously we tried something not to shock a cross between a Jack Russell and a terrier (named Monkey). This dog, and I'm not exaggerating, barked at EVERYTHING. People, bikes, cars, other animals. He's not an aggressive dog, so he barked and didn't bite. He couldn't get along with other dogs either, because I think he has small dog syndrome. However. The drums on this unit hit 10, but we had 3 to start with. When he was first shocked, it didn't hurt him, but he learned quickly. After about a week he stopped barking and we were even able to let him outside so he wouldn't bark at anything that moved. It only took a few weeks and we were able to remove the collar and he wouldn't bark without it. He's really adapted to it, that's the whole point. I would also say that it really "settled" him. He used to act like a maniac when people came, but now he can just relax. We only use it occasionally and it has learned which barks are "allowed" and which aren't. He will now only yelp lightly when he tries to enter the house, which lets us know he's ready to enter but doesn't confuse him. We use it from time to time just to reinforce learning, but not that often. All in all this is a great product and it works really well. The neighbors no longer hate the dog for barking, which is always a good thing.
