But you don't need it.

This is one of those items that can actually be substituted for a $1 funnel. However, it is a pleasure to use this thing. This makes it easy to pour oil (or your liquid of choice) with one hand and minimizes potential spills. So this is one of those tools that are not really needed but are very much needed.
