Sharpens way better than the cheap plastic ones I gave my kids. I use a set of soft-tipped colored pencils. Sharpens a turn or two, doesn't eat a pencil. The cables don't seem to break either. Too bad I didn't buy it with pens right away. It's small enough that I can slip it into one of the rubber bands in my suitcase and carry it with pens. It just works, not magically or anything. I feel like I got exactly what I paid for. I don't see any rust or anything like that. Sometimes, in reviews of other sharpeners, others have pointed out that these sharpeners will solve any problem or leave the tip as perfect as if using the pencils for the first time. Obviously sharpening pencils is a bit nifty as I sharpened the tip very quickly but couldn't get the lead length that new pencils had when I first started using them. Eventually I'll take pictures to show what I mean. I enjoy getting a sharp point quickly at minimal cost and enjoy coloring my images or shading charts.
