This reduced the load on my laptop's CPU and GPU by more than 10 degrees, so it's worth it alone. I like the lighting modes as well as the ability to turn them off. Power draw is just 5V (which limits fan speeds to relatively low) but can be powered by an AC adapter if you have the right one, saving you a USB port if needed. The only thing I don't like about this product is that the fan is a bit noisy. Not bad, I can't hear it at all in my headphones, maybe I'm just unlucky with this separate unit, but it's not as quiet as a 5V fan should be.
