The red is flashing only. not good for night use.

The low white light should work; the high white is pretty bright. This is designed for close quarters not lighting up large area ahead like bike riding. I wish the RED had always on mode, but it flashes only. I wanted to RED light to protect night vision but still have enough light to see what I need to see.
