I just finished my new PC with AMD Ryzen 2700x processor for photo and video editing. I also looked at the Intel i7 8700k, which has slightly better single-core performance, while the 2700X beats it in multi-core performance. I mainly use Photoshop, Lightroom CC Classic, and a few other imaging software packages, and while they're not yet fully optimized for multi-core work, I'm better equipped for the future with the 2700X. I use this processor with the MSI x470 Gaming Plus motherboard and it works without any problems. With the supplied fan and without overclocking, the idle temperature of the processor is around 31°C, under load it reaches almost 50°F, which is not really necessary. The system works quietly and quickly. You can see in the attached photo that the CPU fan that comes with this CPU comes in multiple colors, which is nice.
