Full Disclosure: I received this scale free of charge for this review. The most important property of scales is accuracy. I compared the readings on this scale to two other scales I had. Firstly, this is another kitchen scale that has been accuracy tested and found very accurate by a very reputable kitchen/cuisine organization. The second is a postal scale (up to 40 pounds) which, by its nature, is also fairly accurate. I weighed three items. I don't remember the actual weight. The first was less than a pound. The second weighed between one and two pounds. The third weighed between three and four pounds. This seemed like a reasonable range. The good news is that for all three readings, all three scales agreed within 0.1 oz. I was shocked. So it seems these Greater Goods scales are pretty accurate. The device is made entirely of plastic on the outside and is light in weight but feels solid enough. It has units of fluid ounces, ml, grams, and pounds per ounce, which should cover anything a normal person would want. It has a tare (zero) function to subtract the weight of an empty container before adding the product to be measured. It has another quality that my wife finds desirable. Typically, the device stays on for two minutes before shutting down. As well as our other kitchen scales. However, if you are adding a number of ingredients to a container while taring, you may sometimes run out of time and lose your readings when the unit turns off. This Greater Goods unit can be placed in "Hold" mode and stays on for five minutes, eliminating the problem with other scales. Overall, it's accurate, easy to use, and attractive. Another point - be sure to weigh the surface. If there is a significant tilt, the balance on the light side will be off. It's just physics, and that goes for any scale, not just this one.
