I used it to remove the old oil filter and it had a good stranglehold. But it destroyed the filter canister, which is ok since I don't reuse it anyway. You can use this with different filter sizes. When I installed the new oil filter it got a little wrinkled and scratched the canister. You have to be very careful not to break the canisters. I ended up buying a cheap turnkey head from Walmart so I wouldn't have to worry about damaging the filters. I left it for other purposes.
