Despite all the bad reviews I bought one anyway to see if I could 'make it work' because I really need it to work. I had a suspicion that caused the base to leak. After receiving the item, I unscrewed the blade attachment and filled it with water, it leaks horribly. table.) I immediately noticed that the bottom of the blender jar wasn't flat, which confirmed my suspicion. 600 grit sandpaper on a glass table, sand for 4 minutes and now the bottom is flat. I removed about 0.15mm of material. I rounded off the sharp edges I just created, washed out the blender bowl, attached the blade and filled it with water. It was still leaking. After about 15 minutes of inspection I found the source of the leak. The base of the blender jar is too short to align properly with the silicone pad on the blade attachment. This is a manufacturing/technical defect. I removed the silicone pad from the other blade holder and "folded it in half". It was difficult to put the top back on, but if you get it right everything works fine. I suggest buying some thin silicone rubber bands and using them under the main liner. I strongly recommend that the seller/manufacturer include a thicker washer in the package. The quality of the product seems low. The plastic seems thinner and more fragile than other mugs.
