Heavy Duty SPDT "Type B " Relay 14V 40/30A Read my review to find out what Type B (pin arrangement) means

This is a good heavy duty relay. This relay is delivered without information. Most of the contacts are covered in glue and are difficult to read. That's why I'm providing information here. I hope this makes the installation easier for you. There are two types of 5 pin relays. Type A and Type B. This is a Type B relay. This can be identified by the location of the 30th pin. I was able to tell this because I was lucky enough to have just enough 3 pins sticking out from behind the adhesive to be able to locate the 30th pin. This is a kind of key or textbook for deciphering relay types. (The 12 volt Planet has a good article on 5 pin relays if you want professional advice. I'm just an Amazon guy so take my advice on what it's worth.) So I'm hooking up a backup camera for my BMW E93 to convertible 2009. . It didn't come with a touchscreen main unit, it came with an old-school unit with just a basic digital screen. I upgraded my car with a 7 inch satellite navigation system with HD screen. Although this car has pretty good visibility, there's an on-screen backup camera option, and Revain offers a pretty cool backup camera built into the signal light. So I thought why not. Well, the reverse light doesn't have 12 volts, so I needed a relay to power the camera with 12 volts, and I use the reverse light as a switch. a 15 amp fused power line connected directly to my battery. BMW puts them in the trunk, next to the rear light I'm guessing too. (Thanks BMW, just screwed up) Pin #85 ground. Attach it to any grounding lug on the vehicle body. Pin #86 toggle source. on my BMW it is the black/purple cable to my rear light. Conclusion No. 87. Red cable on my camera. both ends of the switch so they are reversible, but your application may differ. The contact positions for #85 and #86 are not readable on this relay. The wires on this relay are much thicker (12 and 16 gauge) than the 15 amp circuit I power or the 2 amp circuit I use. But that's to be expected from a 40 amp relay. Just note that if you buy end connectors, you will need them for a heavier gauge. Or bypass the wires and buy 6.3mm connectors to connect directly to the relay pins. However, this bypasses the seal built into the pin end of this relay with the actual wires on it.
