Displayport Limitations Audio These latest HDMI 2 to HDMI 2 Displayports convert and clean up video ONLY. In terms of audio, they only allow 48kHz 16-bit stereo signals through (both Linux and Windows) systems. I've tried three different brands here at Revain on three HTPC/Nvidia systems. The problem is either Nvidia malfunction or the converter chip or both. In any case, my goal was to improve the sound and video quality. Instead, I've successfully used the $20 PW-HR20-HDMI 2.0 Repeater Extender. Result. If you can get by with stereo sound, go for it. However, if the source is 5.1, you will not hear the center channel voice.
