I have two kittens. One is a very nosy, noisy, troublesome Siamese who racks up tons of vet bills from accidents, hunting and fights with other animals. The other cat is very wary of potentially dangerous things and hasn't caught anything bigger than a cockroach. I have to keep the two inside but the Siamese is a little monster that despite lots of playtime, love, cat shelves, perches, toys etc will bite and tear the house apart if he gets a fever. I tried to install a containment from cats. Fencing system outside, and he's dug escape tunnels under it several times - it just doesn't get fenced off! I've always wondered who is smarter. One of them has problems, so at first glance she seems much smarter. This product proved that the Siamese cat is smarter (or maybe they really are motivated to run away, which I already knew)! He figured out how to "escape" through the door in a few hours and learned to come back in a day or two. The quiet kitten took weeks to learn both (returning was particularly difficult), and she learned mostly by observing Siamese cats. I've tried training with treats, throwing her out the door a few times, and a few other things, but it took her a long time to get the hang of it. Now she has one, and it's a lot easier than playing cat butlers with both of them. I removed the star from the locking mechanism because the Siamese cat runs away with the lock while a normal cat cannot.
