Considering the price, the Aura is a great addition to your scanning equipment, especially if you are scanning odd sized pages or books/brochures.1) The packaging was very professional, very elegant and more than adequate to protect the contents . Return duplicate fields, so that's a plus. 2) The whole interface is very easy to understand and use. There are just a few improvements I'd like to see (mentioned later). The software works almost perfectly. Initially I had a few user errors which tech support quickly fixed. It took about 1 day and about 4 hours to get to the point where I was able to scan the book very quickly. 3) The hardware itself takes up so little space on your desk and you can leave the black mat on your desk forever as it is out of the way and very durable. In fact, I would suggest that many scanner users just ditch their old scanner and don't use it for 99% of their work. You can only pull out the old scanner if you need a resolution of more than 300 dpi. offer higher quality products. This did not slow down the device at all. In fact, the speed of the scanning process is incredibly fast; I would estimate around 2-3 seconds when scanning the left and right sides of a double book. Less than a page. 5) The included side light was very useful for shiny surfaces. Without them, the top LEDs cause little reflection; Parking lights are not finished. Very good the way they are assembled, quite impressive engineering. 6) The "Auto-Scan" function is particularly impressive. It automatically detects you turning the page, waits and then continues once the movement has stopped. Wow, allows you to scan 100 pages or more pretty quickly. This is one of my favorite features and it basically eliminates the need for a pedal. 7) Suggestions: Basically, I'd like to see some very simple UI improvements, such as: a) support for mouse scrolling when hovering over certain sections of the UI; b) Placing several "options" of the software in one place. It can be a little tricky to find them all as they are usually buttons on each feature page and you have to search for options. For example, the default folder for storing temporary scanned images is not on the main page, but on the scanner page under the button on the top left. c) I would also like to see the updated user guide and a spot on their web site for a shared library of questions and answers from tech support users. In many cases, finding a question would be easier than emailing tech support. It will also free up their time for other things.
