Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Streamlined Gaming Experience with CredevZone's Preinstalled Wireless Consoles Controllers by Brian Sitton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

never mind No options, only usable built-in controllers, very easy

This X5 Retro game console from CredevZone is suitable if you are not looking for customization options and don't mind being able to use the included controllers. It is very similar to "Plug and Play". Just plug the controller wireless receiver into a USB port, then plug an HDMI cable into your TV or whatever, plug in the power and it will boot up instantly. The kit includes a micro USB that was already plugged into the console when I received it. This includes many games for older systems and arcade games. It offers over 9,000 games from early arcade games, the Atari 7800, to Play Station and PSP. The first thing I was looking for was some kind of guide. The menu screen separates ROMs into their systems and also includes a search function. That's decent navigation for a complete system like this. Also, on the main screen, there's a guide on how to quit the game (hold start and press select twice), etc. Okay, but where's the screen resizing menu and all that? Well it's not here, at least I couldn't find it. So for these games I have to manually set the TV to 4:3 to get them in the right ratio. I tried 2 different USB controllers from well known brands, Hori and Retrobit. Neither of them worked on this system, so it seems that this system only wants to work with its own controllers. This is not very good, because one day the controller will fail, everything will break. The controllers are ok, but not too comfortable for some games. They're also not as good as some of the regular USB controllers I use for older games like the ones included with this system. The games I've played work fine, but I'm having trouble with the controller on some games. I really don't know why this system is so limited. This little system works well if you don't bother with the controls. Oh, and when this thing loads, it plays the intro video, and there's no power button either, so you'll have to turn it off when you're done. Hm? These retro gaming consoles are great for those who are just getting started with things like this and aren't quite ready to get to grips with the RaspberryPi and build their own. Hey, you get a microSD card already loaded with lots of games. All in all, this is a great system for those who aren't quite ready to build their own using a RaspberryPi, which isn't really that difficult. It can also frustrate someone enough to finally start collecting their own due to limited options. For the casual gamer, this could be a nice little system. For me it's too limited in its capabilities and can't connect other controllers, I just don't fully understand it.
