They should "snap in". I installed them according to the instructions but they are never "broken". They show up just as easily. I even squeezed them with pliers afterwards to make sure the pin went all the way and there was no improvement. Also, it's not exactly the same design as the factory design for my Honda Pilot, Odyssey, or Ford F-150. All factory buttons appear to be higher quality and have slightly different post connections. I just had to super glue mine. hope this works . .
