Review on Juniper 10/100/1000BASE-T SFP RJ45 Auto-Negotiation Mini-GBIC Copper SFP Transceiver by Macroreer by Bronson Hussain

More ports. Hooray!

Seems to work fine in the Meraki switch to access the extra ports. For a quick and inexpensive way to get a few more usable ports, they're a steal. They may not be related at all, but I had some random issues with a nearby port sometimes failing to negotiate gigabit speeds. I can't say for sure if it's related or if it hasn't happened before. This could (and probably is) be a cable issue, but since I wasn't ruling out gbic I thought it fair to mention it in case others experience the same thing.

Pros
  • A convenient way to add a copper connection to an SFP switch, typically used for fiber optic SFPs.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
