My scaredy cat self closed my eyes when doing this so they came out uneven - so I took one out. I'll order another set once the one hole heals up, left the other one in. It was relatively painless but I was still psyching myself out prior to trying to use it. The trick for me was holding an empty can in one hand and the piercing mechanism so I could crush the can when I popped the piercing device. Worked quite well for me! I did only do my lobes, no cartilage as I was afraid it wouldn't be sufficient for that.Worth the money!
