This alternator was the perfect replacement for the alternator in my 2005 Ford Explorer. The replacement was very easy by unscrewing the V-ribbed belt, 3 screws, 2 plugs and screwed on wire. I recently bought this used car. I expected things to work. I noticed that the water pipe/heater hose from the engine to the firewall almost touches the back of this generator. I believe the heat from the metal tube (200 on the meat probe) just behind the plastic voltage regulator caused the failure. It charged on first start and then died after the engine warmed up. I'm rerouting this hose to protect this new one.
