Review on Motorcraft BT 70 Belt Tensioner by Tay Cassanova

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tensioner "tail " cut incorrectly - JUMPED/CLOSED in housing

Must have gotten a bad quality one. The package was clearly opened. After installation (all 10mm bolts tightened (18 ft.lbs), belt on and cover back on) I do what we do with all of this - tension the belt and the tensioner spring releases the metal grommet and the belt tightens. NOT that much on it. Tried several times without success. I threw everything back. I inspected the tensioner shaft and it was fitted into the body (or should I say jammed) because the metal grommet wasn't cut properly - someone just decided that it would obviously take too much time and effort to get it working properly . Once removed it was a bit of a hassle to reset. I'm at the point where I think I'll just give it back and take what was done right. This lack of quality control for expensive OEM parts is driving me nuts, not to mention DOWNTIME! I pay more for these OEM parts, so I expect superior quality, superior form and function, and superior components. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. This will be packed and returned. I will let you know the results. Unbelievable! UPDATE: wow! I sent the original one back from Revain (via a web backlink) and, no kidding, they got me a new one two days later. I installed a new one and it worked as expected. I have to give this a FIVE STAR rating - the part worked as advertised and Revain's customer service was fantastic!
