I only know the basics of chess and I was hoping this would help me progress. And it's possible, but it's not a good sign when software as complex as a chess program has bugs in the basic moving mechanism! Normally everything is fine, but I tried to play library game 2 (there are 100 saved chess middle games/endgames). I beat him with white and thought I would try playing with black. I wanted to lose and then White moved the king and it became a pawn! Then the pawn went up and became the third queen, and I got checkmate! Look at the photo: there is no white king! And the whites win! How fair! I read a review on another site from 2007 that says the program never castles (although the player can) and doesn't mention cheating, so this should be rare. But annoying! UPDATE: It hasn't cheated since, but there are other annoying things. He was down to the king and only one legal move, but the move took over 10 seconds! In one game I got tired of this, so I made myself repeat the same moves three times: but no stalemate! In general, his game seems good. UPDATE 2: Well when he was playing at level 1 he was moving faster than me and was 5 minutes mid-game. But now he's in chess and has about 5 possible moves, and that move alone took more than an hour (according to his execution time). This is very annoying. I'm demoting it from 3 stars to 2. Not recommended.
