Review on Panasonic BK 4MCCA8BA Eneloop Pre Charged Rechargeable by Tamara Ellis

Beware they might send you old batteries that have not been used for years

This year I bought 8 packs of Eneloop aaa for my Black Diamond headlamp i go camping I camp 15-20 times a year and need batteries. I gather firewood in the dark, cook in the dark, and occasionally come back from hiking in the dark. They disappoint me as they usually last 3 nights or less and I've been using my 3 year old energizers for the last 5 nights! Eneloops should last longer, are newer and have a larger capacity of 800mAh compared to 700. Eneloop also has a detailed graphic on the back of these batteries' packaging stating that once fully charged they retain 90% of their charge in storage . for the first year, 3 years 80%, 5 years 75% and 70% after 10 years. I put all 8 batteries (2 at a time) in my Roku remote after fully charging them and they all show 70% on the battery gauge. It's a lot of crap to say that these batteries hold 70% of their charge after 10 years when all 8 of mine only charge to that capacity and I haven't even had them for over 8 months! I would not recommend anyone to buy batteries from this brand if they are inferior to cheaper and older batteries that have already been used 100+ times and still perform better than eneloop. Headlamps in high 30 degree temperatures night camping, and the light output was completely different! Both sets of batteries were fully charged before I went camping and the energizers are much better than the Eneloops.

Pros
  • Remains up to 70% charge after 10 years (if not used)
Cons
  • Out of fashion
