Review on ASUS PA278QV: Premium DisplayPort Monitor with Anti Glare, Adjustable 2560X1440P Resolution, 75Hz Refresh Rate, Blue Light Filter, Built-In Speakers, and HDMI Support by Mike Zhong

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best 100% sRGB monitor I've ever tried

I tried the BenQ SW240 which is overkill for sRGB (it's for Adobe RGB and P3) and also tried the ViewSonic VP2768. I would arrange them. Asus ProArt2. ViewSonic VP27683. Everything BenQ Why? Well, the ASUS Pro Art had an excellent factory calibration right out of the box. All Delta-E values are below 1.0, averaging 0.32. Compared to the ViewSonic VP2768, where most grays and a few reds were over 3, one over 4, averaging 1.42, this monitor costs $30 more. So ASUS is the clear winner here. At first glance, both have good screen uniformity, but I think the ViewSonic had a bit more IPS bleeding. Well, BenQ, that might shock some people, because if you look at the publishers' reviews, you think that BenQ is the best choice, but from personal experience, hell no. The only thing I saw on my BenQ that looked better was deeper blacks. However, the response time was the worst I've seen, a very noticeable lag. Screen Uniformity/IPS bleeding was also among the worst. Maybe my SW240 was defective, but that's not why I don't recommend BenQ, the real problem was the lack of support. BenQ had their Better Business Bureau accreditation revoked in August 2019 and they have a D rating. In contrast, ASUS and ViewSonic are both rated A. Those facts aside, my personal experience with BenQ has been zero customer service, no hype. They closed their helpdesk on June 3rd due to "manpower shortage", this can be read on archive.org (picture from June 2nd). And even in August there's still no face-to-face service, not even email replies, seriously, so you can't even use your guarantee now. But BenQ still have a sales team ready to take a call in 1 minute and when I asked about it they hung up. I recommend you avoid them.

Pros
  • Ergonomic stand with tilt, swivel, swivel and height adjustment for comfortable viewing and VESA wall mount
Cons
  • The monitor backlight is too bright.
