Review on Standard Motor Products RU 398 Resistor by Eric Basler

Honda air conditioning and fan control no longer working? This part is probably the solution.

Wife started her Honda Accord and turned on the air conditioner. When she turned the fan down to a lower speed, the air conditioning stopped working and the fan wouldn't turn on. A quick youtube check showed that if the fan motor resistor fails, the air conditioner will not cool and the fan controller will not work. Check out how to replace the resistor on youtube. Pretty easy, but you'll need a long 6-8 inch Phillips screwdriver to bypass the plastic tab on the vent. Do not attempt to unplug the power cord until you have removed the resistor from the case (requires a flathead screwdriver to press the tab). Otherwise the plug connection can be interrupted. 15 minutes work. The dealer wanted $150 for the part and $100 for installation. The resistor costs less than $40.
