I bought this thinking I would need to mount a fairly heavy cell phone sized battery on my windshield as part of a track driving accessory. Although not required for this purpose, I tested it with a battery under stress conditions and it worked perfectly. I ended up using it to hold the GPS near the windshield and with an iPhone 7, and neither came close to matching its durability or suction power. OPTIONAL: I read the instructions after purchasing the optional mount and found that the device mount thread is compatible with video and still cameras and lenses. I don't know what the functional weight limit will be, but if properly balanced it will withstand significant stress.
