Review on πŸšͺ Highlander Liftgate Supports (Qty 2) for 2008-2013 Models with Power Gate Brackets | Part #398665 PM1136L-R SG229037 by Bruce Garner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cumbersome use of small clips/pins threaded through the rounded ball joint to secure the posts to the post.

This item was supplied without one of the supports that connects the column to the vehicle frame. Contacted by phone but had to leave a message as all support was busy. Left an email with a problem. I received a quick email response asking me to take a picture of what was missing. Also called back quickly, asked for the missing part. That day they sent part. The product itself looks like a quality stand. The installation on the 2011 Toyota Highlander was bizarre. To connect the posts there is this weird wire clip that needs to be slid back and removed and then reattached after you connect the post to the post. The problem is feeding that very thin wire back through the rounded portion of the connected post when it's tight against the metal of the sunroof. Had to remove the sunroof bracket and attach the jamb and wire pin/clip to this sunroof bracket and then attach the jamb to the jamb. Just a weird design. It appears to be a very flimsy piece of wire and it is difficult to line up the vertical piece to thread through the ball of the post. See photo. The flap opens much more gently and closes better. Just look out for the thin wire pin/clip. The posts will not stay put if this very thin wire breaks.
