Works well but installation was harder than expected.

They fit perfectly as a replacement for my 2010 Highlander Hybrid. Gate opening has been greatly improved. Now it opens completely. Before installing these spacers it didn't open fully. Installation was a little tricky and not that easy as shown in some YouTube videos I watched. Two suggestions: (1) Make sure you have someone who can help you. I needed someone to push the tailgate while I tightened the bolts (2). I had to tighten the bolts on each end of the post before fully tightening them.

Improvement but not perfect

We bought this for my 2011 Highlander after my trunk stopped opening and closing electronically. My husband swapped them out in five minutes and while they open nicely again with the push of a button, they don't close electronically. Frustrating, but after two weeks of having to open and close the trunk manually and hold it open by hand (it's easy to realize how heavy that door really is), it's a big improvement. The fit differs slightly from the original, but is manageable.

The item arrived on time. Just installed the shelves and they work great. If they fail within the next few months I will update the review. It took me about 20 minutes to install, loosen and tighten the bolts with a manual socket wrench. As another reviewer pointed out, these replacements are about 1/4 inch longer than the OEM. Which isn't a big deal, it just means you have to remove both old racks before installing them, not one at a time. To be safe, don't forget to put a ladder under the…

Cumbersome use of small clips/pins threaded through the rounded ball joint to secure the posts to the post.

This item was supplied without one of the supports that connects the column to the vehicle frame. Contacted by phone but had to leave a message as all support was busy. Left an email with a problem. I received a quick email response asking me to take a picture of what was missing. Also called back quickly, asked for the missing part. That day they sent part.
