We bought this for my 2011 Highlander after my trunk stopped opening and closing electronically. My husband swapped them out in five minutes and while they open nicely again with the push of a button, they don't close electronically. Frustrating, but after two weeks of having to open and close the trunk manually and hold it open by hand (it's easy to realize how heavy that door really is), it's a big improvement. My husband has repaired several of our cars over the years with no problem, so it's possible we only got one broken car. To be honest I'm glad I no longer have to lift and hold a heavy tailgate, that pulling on the strap to close it isn't that difficult anymore.
