Disappointed - tools and equipment

Received the outlet on time. I was very unhappy when the 3/8" square ratchet connector broke first. I was able to take the bushing to install the hex head and remove the assembly. After replacing the assembly (to the recommended torque) I then had to pry the bushing out. I will buy a new one before changing the filter again and throwing this away.

It might work, but it's not my favorite solution

If you really can't find a filter wrench to remove the filter, I recommend trying the plastic version of this style first. In theory it should work fine and I'm still keeping it just in case, but I don't like the performance. I have old filters that won't be damaged, but I don't want to damage a new filter. I might be making user error here, but it's also easier to use alternatives on my vehicles.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Fading color

Worst product in the Tools & Equipment category

So I enjoy working on my cars and would of course prefer to change the oil myself whenever possible which takes the stress out of the Lexus boat. So I bought this product to save the day. So it worked perfectly the first time it was used. 6 months later on second use it splits in 2 and leaves the filter so I have to change the oil or buy another filter remover. Was it intended as a one-off removal because at that point it would have been cheaper to have the Lexus dealer do an oil change? Very…

READ BEFORE USE!

DO NOT USE A 3/8 SQUARE DRIVE TO DETACH HOUSING. The square is only for the torque wrench when tightening. Use a 27mm hex wrench to remove. Also make sure that the notches at the base of the bell touch the "wings" on the body before the "grooves" inside the bell touch the grooves on the body, transferring all torsional load to those wings. . Depending on how airtight the fuselage is, this could crack the wings or shatter the entire fuselage. I took a file and widened the grooves so the grooves…

The second line of the description specifically says "Forged Alloy "

The second line of the description specifically says "Designed for maximum torque, high strength forged alloy". I bought it because it was supposed to be forged, not cast. On the paper that came with the package containing the key, there are two boxes that describe the structure. "Cast” is indicated in one cell, and "forged” in the other. And guess what, on paper... the "Cast" block is ticked. So tell me. ABN needs to correct the description of this key for filters. I hope it still holds up…

Easy removal of the tightened filter housing.

I have an 08 Sienna. I broke the spot welded hubs on a steel filter wrench I got locally. The case was so tight that I couldn't pry it off with a 3/8 pry bar. I used a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter on an 18" breaker and broke the aforementioned steel key. Price. With an 18" 1/2 drive breaker and a 1-1/16" Hex socket with this wrench it came loose easily. I would not recommend using a 3/8" square drive on this or any other filter wrench to remove thick filters. Responders will work to trim the wrench. 3…

ABN Oil Filter Tool Toyota/Lexus 6-8 Cylinder

Changed the oil on our 2012 Toyota Rav 4 (6 Cylinder) yesterday and this tool worked fine. You don't need to remove the small drain plug first if you don't mind a little oil getting on this tool. You must be very careful when placing the o-ring on the filter housing that is to be removed. Pay close attention when you take out the old one to see where it goes. Also look closely after installation, I didn't do this and the o-ring somehow came out of place and was sticking out. The 2012 Toyota…

Looks and works the same as the expensive Lisle

I think all these casts are made in the same place in China even the expensive Lisle or AST brands. The only difference is that they have a name engraved on them. Works like a master as it is used in a quick oil change station servicing 10 to 15 vehicles per day that require this tool to safely remove the filter cap. It even handles the stress of having to use a 3 foot breaker if the dealer overtightened the oil filter housing. A word of caution, use the hex head tool to remove the filters…

Works perfectly. quality tool.

I used this tool once to change the filter on my daughter's 2013 Toyota Tundra with a V-6 (4.0 liter) engine. The tool worked fine. Looks well made (solid piece of die-cast aluminum?). I ended up with a 1/2" ratchet, an extension, and a large socket (1-1/16" (27mm would probably work too)), so I torqued the torque through a large hex instead of a smaller one ( 3/8 inch drive) applied ). ) square (see product photo). It took quite a bit of torque to "loosen off" the old filter, so I would…
