Works perfectly. quality tool.

I used this tool once to change the filter on my daughter's 2013 Toyota Tundra with a V-6 (4.0 liter) engine. The tool worked fine. Looks well made (solid piece of die-cast aluminum?). I ended up with a 1/2" ratchet, an extension, and a large socket (1-1/16" (27mm would probably work too)), so I torqued the torque through a large hex instead of a smaller one ( 3/8 inch drive) applied ). ) square (see product photo). It took quite a bit of torque to "loosen off" the old filter, so I would suggest that one person have access to 1/2" powered tools - at least to get the tool/filter assembly to spin. One more comment. There are three notches on one side of this tool and only one on the other. This is important as these four notches engage the same number of "tabs" on the filter assembly (three tabs on one side and one on the other). I didn't know this (didn't think to get a flashlight and look closely before starting) and the key removed the filter assembly anyway, but once the filter assembly was in my hands (from the truck) I saw my mistake (that I had the tool grooves and filter assembly blades not properly aligned/snapped). Learn better now and use it the way you should use it next time. I think the quality of the instrument is excellent. No complaints at all. I think it will last at least as long as the truck exists. Probably much longer. Edit - I suspect that applying torque through the 3/8 drive square will cause some of them to fail. Something like using a wedge. separate them Apply torque with the large hex, not the smaller square, to at least keep the filter assembly turning.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
