Funny I bought this scale specifically to make reading numbers easier. and it didn't disappoint. The great thing is that the scale and digital display are separate pieces and the digital display has a BIG number and LIGHTED display. This display is on a wire that can be placed away from the base or hung on a wall away from the base. It helps to weigh large boxes because now you can read the numbers on the display. .Why is it important? Well I've used other scales in the past and they have 2 main problems: 1) The first problem is that the display is usually an LCD so basically a gray background with black letters, in some lighting conditions you can't do it that way easily read the numbers. This scale solves this problem thanks to the LARGE ILLUMINATION of the display. 2) The second issue I have with other scales is that the digital display is mounted on the front of the scale, which is practically useless if you're weighing boxes larger than 12 inches. The problem is solved with this scale as the display is on a line that can be moved away from the scale and even wall mounted away from the base of the scale.
